Vikings Add Myles Gaskin to 53-Man Roster and Move Nick Muse to Injured Reserve.
On Wednesday, the Vikings added running back Myles Gaskin to their 53-man roster and placed tight end Nick Muse on Injured Reserve.
Head Coach Kevin O’Connell confirmed that Muse was placed on short-term IR, allowing for a potential return this season after at least four weeks.
“Nick Muse had a small fracture in his hand early in the game. While he could play with a large cast, it wouldn’t be ideal for his role as a blocker and pass catcher. We felt it was best for him to heal over the next three to four weeks,” O’Connell explained during his media session. “By placing him on short-term IR, we can bring Myles Gaskin on as our third running back. I’ll keep you updated on our plans at tight end as the week progresses.”
Gaskin has been on Minnesota’s practice squad and was elevated for the first two games of the 2024 season. So far, he’s played two offensive snaps, rushing once for a loss of three yards, and participated in nine special teams plays without returning a kickoff yet this season. He has appeared in 43 games with 17 starts in his career.
The Vikings also have Aaron Jones, Sr., who was evaluated on Sunday but returned to play, Ty Chandler, and fullback C.J. Ham in their backfield.
