The ‘College GameDay’ team participates in batting practice with Oklahoma Softball.
The Oklahoma Sooners are set to host the Tennessee Volunteers on Saturday night in Norman, marking OU’s first conference game in the SEC and one of the most anticipated matchups of the 2024 college football season.
The significance of the game has prompted ESPN’s “College GameDay” to broadcast live from the Norman campus on Saturday morning, ahead of the primetime clash.
Before the big event, several members of the “GameDay” team visited Oklahoma’s softball team on Friday. The Sooners, who are coming off a streak of four consecutive national championships, are renowned for having one of the best softball programs in history, under the leadership of head coach Patty Gasso.
Gasso and the team welcomed the ESPN crew to Loves’ Field for some practice swings, and “College GameDay” shared videos of the visit on social media.

Former NFL punter Pat McAfee made headlines with a big hit over the fence, but the standout moment in the video was former Alabama head coach Nick Saban’s smooth swing.
This Saturday will be the first time “GameDay” has been in Norman since 2020 when the Sooners faced Oklahoma State. As that game took place during the COVID-19 season, this week marks the first time “GameDay” will have fans in attendance since 2012, when Oklahoma hosted Notre Dame.
McAfee interviewed Patty Gasso during his show on Friday, live from Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium, and they plan to highlight OU Softball during the three-hour pregame show on Saturday morning.
