Steelers RB Facing New Injury Setback.
Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jaylen Warren faces another setback this season due to a knee injury that may affect his availability for the next game.
Head coach Mike Tomlin noted that Warren didn’t appear healthy enough to continue after halftime and decided to pull him from the game. “Jaylen Warren wasn’t able to finish late in the second half,” Tomlin said. “It just didn’t look like he was running smoothly. We’ll evaluate him.”
This news is particularly frustrating for Warren, who recently had a decent performance against the Denver Broncos with nine carries for 42 yards. This comes on the heels of a hamstring injury that limited him throughout the preseason and restricted him to just two carries for seven yards in the season opener against the Atlanta Falcons.
According to Nick Farabaugh of PennLive, Warren underwent an MRI on his knee after the game, suggesting the injury might be more serious than initially believed. Farabaugh added that this knee issue is unrelated to his prior hamstring injury, and Warren will be limited in practice at the start of the week, though the exact severity of the injury remains unclear.
Warren isn’t the only one dealing with injuries; Najee Harris also sustained an arm injury this past weekend and was seen in a sling on Monday. However, Harris will not have any practice restrictions this week.
With both running backs not at full strength, the Steelers will likely need to rely heavily on Cordarelle Patterson, who played both wide receiver and running back against the Los Angeles Chargers. In limited opportunities, Patterson rushed four times for 33 yards and will need to step up to support the Steelers’ offense.
