Aaron Jones writes a letter to Green Bay as he prepares to return to Lambeau Field as a Viking.

A former Packers running back sent a heartfelt message to Green Bay as he prepares for his first game at Lambeau Field as an opponent.

On Wednesday, Minnesota Vikings RB Aaron Jones published a letter in The Player’s Tribune titled “A Message for Green Bay.” This comes just days before he returns to Lambeau Field for the Packers’ Week 4 matchup against the Vikings, after spending seven seasons with Green Bay.

In his letter, Jones reminisces about his 2017 training camp, where he was one of three rookie running backs drafted by the Packers. He was selected in the fifth round (182nd overall), alongside current Saints RB Jamaal Williams (134th overall) and Devante Mays (238th overall). Jones recalls how the wide receivers began “betting” on who would emerge as the top RB, with Davante Adams telling him, “I got you as my dog in this race.”

He also reflects on his first offensive snap in the NFL, when he stepped in due to injuries to Williams and Ty Montgomery. He remembers Aaron Rodgers telling him in the huddle, “Hey, I am one of your biggest fans in this entire organization. It’s your time. Yours, right now.” Later that season, with the other backs back from injury, Jones recalls a moment when Rodgers called a timeout, insisting, “I WANT 33 IN THE GAME!!!”

Jones expressed gratitude for the unwavering support from the Packers fanbase, especially during tough times, such as after a citation related to marijuana use and the loss of his father.

He concluded his letter with thanks for everything during his seven years with the team, acknowledging the strangeness of being on the visiting sideline. “It’s ALL love, and it’s so much gratitude. Thanks for ‘betting’ on me, riding with me, hashtagging for me, and everything else.”
