Bill Belichick Criticizes Raiders’ High Asking Price for Davante Adams Trade
The Las Vegas Raiders are still working through Davante Adams’ trade request, but Bill Belichick doubts a deal will materialize unless the Raiders reconsider their demands.
Reports indicate that Las Vegas is looking for a second-round pick for Adams, a figure Belichick deems too high.
On a recent episode of “Coach” with Underdog Fantasy, the former New England Patriots coach shared his perspective on Adams and the Raiders, stating that the star wide receiver isn’t worth a second-round pick in a trade.
“Not for a second-round pick, which is supposedly what they’re asking for. I don’t see how anyone would give that up for him. You’d have to believe Adams will be the key to winning it all this year, and he’s got a hefty salary too,” Belichick remarked.
“I don’t see how anyone’s giving up a second-round pick for him.”
Bill Belichick thinks the Raiders’ asking price for Davante Adams is way too steep.
“It’s a difficult situation… they’ve kind of backed themselves into a corner. This issue has been building for a while, and the longer you wait, the harder it is to get anything done,” he added.
Adams, currently dealing with a hamstring injury, may have already played his last game with the Raiders. Teams like the New York Jets and New Orleans Saints have expressed interest in the star receiver, but Belichick pointed out that the Raiders have limited leverage. If they lower their asking price and agree to take on part of Adams’ significant contract, a trade could become more feasible.
This season, Adams has participated in three games, recording 18 receptions for 209 yards and one touchdown. However, his cap hit of over $25 million complicates any potential trade.
