Josh Heupel Addresses Allegations of Tennessee Using Artificial Crowd Noise.
Tennessee defeated Alabama for the second time in three years on Saturday in front of an electrifying crowd at Neyland Stadium.
Fans were decked out in orange for the intense rivalry game against the Crimson Tide, and the noise levels soared above 120 decibels at various points during the match, contributing to Tennessee’s 24-17 victory.
However, Alabama’s play-by-play radio announcer, Chris Stewart, alleged that Tennessee was using artificial crowd noise in the stadium.
“Second-and-16 is not what you want,” Stewart remarked. “Especially with the crowd noise being what it is here. You have over 100,000 fans, and they also pump in crowd noise.”
When asked about the claim during his press conference on Wednesday, Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel kept his response brief: “Hopefully our fans take that personally.”
Tennessee boasts one of the strongest home-field advantages in college football, having lost at home only to Georgia since the 2021 season. Alabama has now lost two consecutive games in Knoxville, highlighting the challenge of winning at Neyland Stadium.
The Vols’ next home game is against the Kentucky Wildcats on November 2nd.
