With only 77 players in the history of the program granted the opportunity to play in the NFL, Marshall boasts a pretty impressive alumni network.

 

Among those who played for the Thundering Herd and ventured into professional territory are two of the most prominent players of the early 2000s: Chad Pennington and Randy Moss. Playing together in West Virginia for two seasons, the quarterback-receiver duo eventually played against each other in the big leagues for over a decade.

 

With both Marshall legends leaving football behind several years ago, it’s no wonder college football fans have experienced a bit of déjà vu watching the program the last couple of seasons. Another Pennington quarterback has appeared in the NCAA landscape and just so happens to attend the same school as his predecessor.
