Kevin Phillips has been named the head coach of Hartlepool United, bringing on board the former England and Sunderland striker for the position.
The 50-year-old Sunderland icon assumes the role following the dismissal of the former manager, John Askey, on December 30th. Phillips, who previously managed South Shields and guided them to promotion to the National League North last season, expressed gratitude to the chairman for the chance to lead the esteemed club.
