Plymouth Parkway extends their unbeaten streak to seven matches by defeating Hungerford with a six-goal performance.
Following two consecutive home postponements, Plymouth Parkway made a return to Bolitho Park for the first time since Boxing Day, aiming to extend their impressive six-match unbeaten streak in the league against the fifth-placed and in-form Hungerford Town. They achieved this objective in a remarkable fashion, defeating Hungerford Town 6-2.
The lineup saw three changes from the midweek 3-1 defeat in the Devon St Lukes Bowl at Willand Rovers, with Ryan Lane and Mikey Williams making their return from injury and illness, respectively. Callum Hall also replaced Matt Wright, Ethan Wright, and Callum Rose. The squad faced challenges with injuries, resulting in only three substitutes being available.
Hungerford took an early initiative, applying pressure with three corners in the opening five minutes. Parkway successfully defended against these threats, with goalkeeper Adam Parkes making crucial saves, including one low down at his near post and tipping over a header. Despite the early defensive efforts, Hungerford appeared more threatening. In the 14th minute, a break along the right led to a cross into the six-yard area from Elis Watts, but Parkes skillfully smothered the attempt. Parkway gradually gained more possession in the midfield after weathering the initial storm, yet they struggled to create clear chances. On the 17th minute, Parkes once again showcased his goalkeeping skills by saving an effort from Adulai Sambu.
