The Pittsburgh Steelers have conducted an interview with Jerrod Johnson, currently serving as the quarterback coach for the Houston Texans, for the vacant offensive coordinator position.
The Texans report that Jerrod Johnson joined them as the quarterbacks coach in 2023, following a one-season stint with the Minnesota Vikings as their assistant quarterbacks coach, where he contributed to coaching Kirk Cousins. Prior to that, he spent three seasons with the Indianapolis Colts.
In addition to his coaching experience, Johnson has a playing history in the league, having been undrafted in the 2011 NFL Draft. He played for various teams, including Pittsburgh, Dallas, Baltimore, Chicago, Seattle, and Philadelphia. A Texas native, he participated in 37 games during his time at Texas A&M.
Earlier this week, the Steelers conducted an interview with Thomas Brown, the offensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers, for the same position. Brown has attracted interest from other teams this offseason, reportedly being interviewed for the head coach opening with the Tennessee Titans.
