According to a source on Wednesday, Brian Belichick, the safeties coach for the New England Patriots and the youngest son of former head coach Bill Belichick, will be staying with the team. Over the past four seasons in his capacity as safeties coach, Brian Belichick collaborated closely with Jerod Mayo, the linebackers coach chosen by owner Robert Kraft as the successor to Bill Belichick.
Jerod Mayo has previously commended Brian Belichick as a “great coach” and acknowledged that he had the option to continue with the franchise if he wished to do so. It’s worth noting that Brian’s brother, Steve, also had the opportunity to remain with the Patriots but has opted to serve as the defensive coordinator for the University of Washington in 2024.
