The Atlanta Braves have witnessed unexpected contributions from unlikely sources on occasion. In the 2021 season, the team faced a setback with the loss of star outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr. to a torn ACL, necessitating a swift reinforcement of their outfield.

Amid the trades made to address this need, one notable move involved sending former San Francisco Giants infielder Pablo Sandoval, known for hitting four home runs as a pinch hitter off Atlanta’s bench that season, to the then-Cleveland Indians in exchange for outfielder Eddie Rosario. Rosario made a significant impact, boasting a .271 batting average and hitting seven home runs in the latter part of the season for Atlanta. His notable performance earned him the NLCS MVP award, leading to a multi-year deal to continue playing in left field for the Braves. In contrast, Sandoval was released by Cleveland on the same day and did not make another appearance in MLB. However, he did receive a World Series ring from Atlanta.

Despite his earlier exit from MLB, there is a possibility that Pablo Sandoval might have another opportunity in the future.
