Terry Fontenot emphasized that the Falcons’ foremost objective this offseason is to address their quarterback situation, acknowledging it as the most glaring deficiency in the roster during his three-year tenure as general manager. He expressed a commitment to exploring all avenues, including trades, free agency, and the draft, maintaining an open-minded approach to rectify the issue.

A potential aggressive move for the Falcons involves trading up in the draft, with the expectation that the top three picks will likely be dedicated to quarterback prospects Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, and Drake Maye. However, if one of the top three teams becomes hesitant, Fontenot sees an opportunity. A recent mock trade proposed by PFF suggested the Falcons could secure Jayden Daniels by trading up to the third overall pick with the Patriots, offering two first-round picks and a second-round selection for the 2023 Heisman Trophy winner.

The suggestion of giving up two firsts and a second for a potential franchise quarterback is deemed a clear and favorable decision. If the Falcons develop a strong affinity for Daniels during the draft evaluation process and the opportunity arises, it is suggested that they should not hesitate to accept such an offer.

As the draft approaches, the dynamics remain uncertain, with all top three teams in need of quarterbacks. If any reservations arise for these teams regarding the available prospects, the possibility of trading the pick for a substantial return exists. However, the Falcons may face competition from numerous teams vying to trade into the top three picks, potentially leading to a bidding war. Despite the competitive landscape, if the cost settles around a couple of first-round picks and a second, it is anticipated that the Falcons will make the decisive move.
