“Cleveland Browns Prioritize Internal Talent Development over Big Offseason Splash for Receivers”

The Cleveland Browns are unlikely to make significant offseason moves to enhance their receiving corps around Deshaun Watson.

While the wide receiver position was anticipated to be a key focus for the Browns this offseason to provide Watson with more options in the passing game, the team’s plans took a hit when Tee Higgins, a player publicly endorsed by Watson, was franchised tagged by the Cincinnati Bengals.

Despite the initial emphasis on wide receivers, the Browns have reevaluated their approach after making changes to their offensive coaching staff this offseason. According to Terry Pluto of Cleveland.com, the team aims to maximize the potential of the players already under contract.

Pluto mentioned on February 25 that it’s highly improbable for the Browns to make a significant and expensive move for a wide receiver. The team acknowledges the need for improvement in that area but expresses confidence in the abilities of two Pro Bowlers, Amari Cooper and David Njoku. The addition of new coaches to the offense is intended to optimize Njoku’s skills as a pass-catcher.”
