Former MVP candidate and beloved player Isaiah Thomas recently made a case for rejoining the Celtics, expressing his belief that his leadership could guide Boston to its 18th championship. In response, Boston.com’s Kaley Brown indicated that it was “unlikely” for Brad Stevens to entertain the idea of bringing Thomas back—seemingly an understatement.

A specific segment of fans and journalists took notice of Thomas’ comments and began contemplating the prospect of his return. Gio Rivera of NESN presented compelling reasoning for why Boston should consider reintegrating the 35-year-old point guard.

“Imagine this scenario: Thomas, alongside Tatum and Brown, celebrating under confetti at TD Garden after the conclusion of the 2024 NBA Finals,” Rivera suggested. “Completing the circle, there couldn’t be a more fitting conclusion to Thomas’ NBA journey. This vision could become a reality if Brad Stevens, the Celtics’ president of basketball operations, extends the long-awaited call to Thomas.”
