The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have witnessed the presence of notable quarterbacks throughout their history. Prior to Tom Brady joining the franchise, the team boasted Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks like Brad Johnson, Trent Dilfer, Steve Young, and Doug Williams. However, only Brady and Johnson secured championships during their time with the Buccaneers. Additionally, quarterback Ryan Griffin, despite not taking a snap in the 2020 NFL season, also clinched a championship with the team.
Now, Ryan Griffin, who spent his entire playing career in the NFC South Division, is making a move to the Chicago Bears as part of head coach Matt Eberflus’ staff. The Bears recently announced the addition of Griffin to their coaching staff, where he will be working with quarterbacks and receivers. Griffin, who began his NFL journey as an undrafted free agent with the New Orleans Saints, had stints with the Saints (2013-14) and Buccaneers (2015-22), primarily on practice squads or as a third-string quarterback. He played in one regular-season NFL game, completing 2 of 4 passes for 18 yards during a 2019 contest against the Colts.
Buccaneers fans may recall Griffin’s memorable moment during the team’s celebrated (or, depending on perspective, infamous) boat parade after their Super Bowl LV victory over Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.
