Will J.J. McCarthy enter the draft? Examining potential destinations for the Michigan quarterback.

J.J. McCarthy, a former Michigan quarterback, stands out as one of the prominent prospects in the upcoming NFL Draft and is considered the sleeper pick in the quarterback class of April 2024.

Having played a pivotal role in Michigan’s recent national championship victory, breaking a drought since 1997 with an undefeated 15-0 record, McCarthy officially declared for the NFL Draft last month. This raises the question of whether McCarthy will indeed enter the draft, prompting a closer examination of potential teams interested in selecting him.

According to reports from Bleacher Report’s Jordan Schultz, McCarthy has opted to participate in the NFL Combine, showcasing his skills in front of evaluators during the event in Indianapolis.

As the 2024 NFL Combine kicks off, projections place McCarthy as a potential first or second-round draft pick, considering his outstanding college record of 29 wins in 30 starts. Former NFL player Brady Quinn suggests that McCarthy might even be selected within the top 10 picks.

Various mock drafts offer different scenarios for McCarthy’s landing spot. FantasyPoints.com’s Brett Whitefield proposes a potential trade between the Chicago Bears and the Carolina Panthers to secure the first pick and draft McCarthy. On the other hand, NFL analyst Eric Edholm predicts McCarthy might be the 19th pick for the Los Angeles Rams. Meanwhile, Ryan Wilson of CBS Sports anticipates McCarthy being chosen by the Las Vegas Raiders with the 13th overall pick, according to his latest mock draft.

McCarthy’s impressive statistics from the last season, including 2,991 passing yards – the fourth-highest in Michigan history, 22 touchdowns, and notable contributions on the ground, further solidify his standing as a promising prospect in the upcoming NFL Draft.
