After a long battle with cancer, Ex-Michigan Wolverines standout gave up the ghost at 33.
The football player discreetly faced his battle with cancer.
Former Michigan Wolverines standout Craig Roh, a distinguished defensive player, succumbed to colon cancer on Monday at the age of 33, as disclosed by his wife. Chelsea, his widow, shared the sad news on Twitter, stating, “After an 18-month battle with Stage IV colon cancer, God brought Craig home on Monday, February 26th.”
Despite his private struggle, Craig remained focused on delivering quality content and building exceptional products. Chelsea mentioned that he had outlined a timeline for his business endeavors.
Craig Roh, a four-star recruit from Chaparral High School, earned the Gatorade Player of the Year award in Arizona. He committed to the Wolverines in 2008, achieving a program record with 51 consecutive starts from 2009 to 2012. Notable for forcing a quarterback from the pocket during a triple-overtime win over Illinois in 2010, Roh garnered recognition as an All-Big Ten honorable mention in 2011 and a second-team selection in 2012.
Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore expressed condolences, saying, “I am saddened to hear about the passing of former defensive end Craig Roh, our program’s all-time leader in career starts. My heart goes out to his family during this difficult time. The entire Roh family is in my thoughts and prayers, and we hope for peace and comfort for all who knew this great Wolverine.”
