Running back Akylin Dear from Quitman High School stands out as one of the premier backs in the 2025 recruiting cycle, boasting an impressive 23 offers and showcasing remarkable statistics of 2,063 rushing yards and 27 touchdowns in his junior season. According to the 247Sports’ Composite Rankings, Dear holds the position of the No. 68 overall prospect in the cycle and the No. 4 running back.
On Thursday, he narrowed down his potential choices to 12 schools, namely Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Miami, Mississippi State, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Texas, and Texas A&M. Notably, Tennessee, with its recent hiring of running backs coach De’Rail Sims, has been actively building a rapport with Dear.
Ole Miss has been particularly successful in leading his recruitment, establishing numerous on-campus visits over the past few years. Head coach Lane Kiffin’s influence appears to be resonating positively. While the Vols have already secured a running back commit in the 2025 cycle with Justin Baker, they remain open to recruiting multiple running backs in this cycle.
