Electronic Arts, the game developer, has unveiled initial details about its upcoming college football video game, EA Sports College Football 25. The full release is expected later this year, and the payment structure for player likenesses has been disclosed. Participants who opt in will receive $600 along with a copy of the game, while star players have the potential to earn more through NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) deals. Currently, over 10,000 players have joined the game, bringing EA close to its goal of having 85 players for each team. However, reports suggest that Texas QB Arch Manning, a notable player due to his family’s NFL legacy, will not be partaking in College Football 25.
While it may be surprising to see a backup quarterback like Manning opting out, his football pedigree sets him apart. Manning, the nephew of NFL legends Peyton and Eli Manning, has generated significant buzz as a third-generation player with NFL-level talent. Despite being behind Quinn Ewers on the depth chart, Manning’s potential has garnered attention, and fans eagerly await his on-field performance.
In the realm of NIL deals, Manning has been cautious, having only signed with Panini for trading cards and charity auction events. Whether he’s holding out for a starting position or due to financial independence from his family’s history remains unclear. Regardless, it appears that at least one prominent college star will not feature in EA Sports College Football 25.
Over 10,000 players have already committed to the game, including notable names like Quinn Ewers, Travis Hunter from Colorado, Jalen Milroe from Alabama, Carson Beck from Georgia, and Dillon Gabriel from Oregon. Although the release date for EA Sports College Football 25 is yet to be confirmed, the current estimate points towards a July launch, aligning with the traditional timing of college football game releases in previous years.
