Sherrone Moore, the head coach of the Michigan football program, announced on Wednesday afternoon through a press release that Sean Magee has been appointed as the general manager. Magee, who spent five years in Ann Arbor from 2017 to 2022, initially served as the director of player personnel for one season before assuming the role of U-M’s associate athletic director for the subsequent four years.
During his tenure at Michigan, Magee not only held the position of the program’s NFL liaison but also served as the chief of staff for the Chicago Bears in the 2022-23 seasons.
In his new role as the Senior Associate Athletic Director and General Manager, Magee will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the recruiting and player personnel departments. Additionally, he will coordinate the program’s NIL initiatives. The program’s statement on Wednesday outlined that Magee’s duties will include managing the identification, evaluation, and recruitment of potential student-athletes in collaboration with the head coach and staff. Furthermore, he will be tasked with handling the roster of current student-athletes and identifying future needs for the program.
