Maxwell’s impressive display was complemented by Oklahoma’s offensive prowess, as they rallied to score five runs in the decisive fifth inning. The offensive outburst was kickstarted by leadoff hitter Jayda Coleman, who wasted no time in putting Oklahoma on the scoreboard with a powerful hit to left-center field. Kasidi Pickering and Alyssa Brito followed suit with consecutive walks, piling pressure on Tarleton State’s pitcher Alexa Rehmeier.

Despite facing a momentary setback when the offense stalled, Oklahoma regained momentum in the fifth inning. Cydney Sanders extended the lead with a crucial RBI hit to right field, while freshman Ella Parker and second baseman Alynah Torres sealed the victory with timely hits of their own. Tiare Jennings also left her mark on the game, leveling Lisa Carey’s career doubles record at 56.

Reflecting on the game, Maxwell credited her success to her hard work with Coach Jennifer Rocha, highlighting the importance of Rocha’s coaching philosophy in her performance. Head coach Patty Gasso acknowledged the team’s slow start but praised their resilience in finishing strong.

Oklahoma’s commanding victory in the first game set the tone for the remainder of the double-header, as they went on to secure a comprehensive 12-1 win in the second game of the day. With back-to-back victories, Oklahoma demonstrated their dominance on the diamond and affirmed their status as a formidable force in collegiate softball.
