“Former Bills Defensive Back Siran Neal Signs One-Year Deal with Miami Dolphins”

According to Marcel Louis-Jacques, former Bills defensive back Siran Neal has inked a one-year contract with the Miami Dolphins. In the Dolphins’ secondary, he’ll team up with former Buffalo safety Jordan Poyer.

However, Neal’s primary contribution won’t be in generating turnovers or shutting down receivers; rather, it will be on special teams. His standout performance occurred in 2021 when he recorded 10 tackles on kickoffs and punts, solidifying his reputation as a special teams standout.

Throughout his career, Neal has made a name for himself as a reliable special teams player while also serving as a depth option in the defensive backfield. Although he faced challenges in coverage last season, yielding a 96.9 passer rating on eight targets, since his debut in 2018, he has demonstrated versatility by filling in at slot cornerback and occasionally playing as a box safety.

While Neal may not play as prominent a role in Miami’s potential success as Poyer, who brings veteran experience to a defense grappling with significant losses in free agency, his departure is not ideal for Buffalo.
