Curtis Samuel’s Breakout NFL Season Spearheaded by Joe Brady’s Play-calling..
Curtis Samuel experienced his most productive NFL season under the play-calling of Joe Brady. Fortunately for him, he will have the opportunity to reunite with his former colleague.
On Friday, the Buffalo Bills officially confirmed the signing of Samuel, who is heading north for a three-year contract valued at up to $30 million. This means the former Carolina Panthers wide receiver will be joining forces once again with his former offensive coordinator.
During his introduction to the local media following the announcement, Samuel was asked about his success under Brady’s leadership in Carolina.
“I believe I thrived under Brady in Carolina because I trusted him to position me in the right spots on the field to maximize my playmaking abilities,” he explained. “I feel he excelled in that aspect.”
Brady served as offensive coordinator in 2020, a season in which Samuel achieved career highs in receptions (77), receiving yards (851), and catch rate (79.4 percent). Additionally, the versatile player recorded a career-best 200 rushing yards, making him one of three Panthers wide receivers to surpass 1,000 yards from scrimmage during that campaign.
