“Reading Football Club Grapples with Ongoing Financial Crisis”
Amid the ongoing financial crisis at Reading Football Club, owner Dai Yongge has authorized the sale of their advanced training facility to local rivals Wycombe at a reduced price, aiming to alleviate cash flow issues.
With no imminent takeover on the horizon, serious concerns have emerged within the League One club regarding their ability to cover March’s wages and necessary payments to HMRC, facing a £1 million deficit to overcome this month. Any failure to meet wage or HMRC obligations would likely lead to further point deductions by the English Football League. Reading has already incurred a six-point deduction this season due to financial troubles.
In an unprecedented move on Sunday, Reading publicly announced the listing of their Bearwood Park training complex for sale. The statement indicated, “Mr. Dai is exploring all available options to secure sufficient funds until new ownership is finalized. As part of this effort, he is open to the possibility of selling Bearwood Park should a suitable offer be presented.”
