Running back Damien Harris announced his retirement from the NFL at the age of 27 on Monday. During the previous season, Harris was part of the Buffalo Bills roster, where he carried the ball 23 times for a total of 94 yards and scored one touchdown. Unfortunately, his season was cut short due to a neck injury sustained in Week 6 against the New York Giants. Harris had to be taken off the field by ambulance after a particularly severe hit. Notably, he was initially drafted by the New England Patriots in the 2019 NFL Draft, allowing him the privilege of being coached by two of the greatest coaches in NFL history: Bill Belichick and Nick Saban. Harris referenced this aspect of his career in his farewell message.
