New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll has suggested the possibility of assuming play-calling responsibilities from offensive coordinator Mike Kafka in the upcoming season.

Daboll, who transitioned to the Giants following a four-year tenure as the Buffalo Bills’ offensive coordinator, has largely delegated play-calling duties to Kafka during his initial two seasons as head coach. While this strategy initially showed promise in the team’s progress during the first year, there was a setback in the second year.

In the upcoming season, the Giants may adopt the approach of several other teams whose head coaches actively call plays during games. Daboll noted that approximately 20 NFL head coaches already employ this practice.

“I’m considering it,” Daboll remarked during the NFL owners meeting on the team’s official website. “I believe there are around 20 head coaches in the league at this point who either handle offensive or defensive play-calling duties.”
