Georgia cornerback Kamari Lassiter’s draft rating is diminishing as the NFL Draft draws nearer….

Over the past two NFL Draft cycles, the University of Georgia has sent 27 players into the draft, surpassing other football programs by a considerable margin. It has almost become expected to witness former Bulldogs’ stocks soar post their time in Athens.

However, amid this trend, one Georgia Bulldog has faced a different fate during the current draft cycle. Kamari Lassiter, a defensive back from Georgia, has experienced a decline in his draft prospects leading up to the 2024 NFL Draft.

Before the NFL Combine in Indianapolis, Lassiter was projected to be a late first-round draft pick, as per the NFL Mockdraft Database. Yet, as the draft draws near, Lassiter has slipped to the 42nd overall prospect in the latest mock drafts. Moreover, Daniel Jeremiah, a Draft Analyst at NFL Network, has revised his Top 50 prospects for this draft.

On March 7th, Lassiter held the 36th spot in Daniel Jeremiah’s list of top prospects. However, in the latest update, he has plummeted 15 places, dropping completely out of the top 50. Speculation surrounding Lassiter’s decline centers mainly on his perceived lack of exceptional top-end speed, which has been identified as the primary reason for his descent. Lassiter’s performance in the 40-yard dash at Georgia’s pro day clocked in the 4.5s, and he opted not to run at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis.
