The Pittsburgh Steelers evaluated two quarterbacks just prior to their Week 17 game against the Seattle Seahawks, as reported by the NFL’s transaction wire.
Adrian Martinez and Matthew McKay were brought in by the team for workouts, potentially considering them as future options. With Kenny Pickett, Mitch Trubisky, Mason Rudolph on the active roster, and Trace McSorley on the practice squad, both tryouts could be seen as prospects for offseason contracts.
Martinez previously joined the Detroit Lions post the 2023 NFL Draft but had a brief stint before signing with the Birmingham Stallions in the USFL. During his college years at Nebraska and Kansas State, Martinez accumulated 9,331 passing yards, 49 touchdowns, 30 interceptions, along with 2,847 rushing yards and 44 touchdowns.
McKay had a collegiate journey across three schools—starting at NC State, moving to Montana State, and eventually landing at Elon. Following the 2023 NFL Draft, as an undrafted free agent, he had a rookie minicamp tryout with the Dallas Cowboys. He’s currently signed with the San Antonio Brahams.
