Discussions between the Steelers and Brandon Aiyuk are indeed substantial.
The Steelers are interested in adding a veteran wide receiver to complement George Pickens and facilitate Russell Wilson’s transition, but they’re not willing to overpay. With Brandon Aiyuk expressing dissatisfaction with negotiations in San Francisco, Pittsburgh sees an opportunity to negotiate a more favorable deal. While previous attempts to gauge interest were met with low enthusiasm, the Steelers’ current pursuit seems more promising.
Currently, there’s only about a 50% chance of a deal being finalized, but Pittsburgh seems determined to acquire Aiyuk. The timing of any potential agreement remains uncertain, but the Steelers have been actively pursuing wide receivers this offseason, with General Manager Omar Khan known for decisive action.
Aiyuk, aged 26, has achieved consecutive 1,000-yard seasons and impressive stats of 3,931 receiving yards and 25 touchdowns during his four-year tenure with the 49ers.
While the Steelers are also considering wide receivers in the NFL Draft and have reportedly discussed acquiring Stefon Diggs and Tee Higgins, Aiyuk is currently the primary target.
