UNC football extends offer to offspring of ex-NFL standout running back.

In Chapel Hill, the primary football focus may be on the upcoming 2024 season, but the North Carolina Tar Heels are already looking ahead to the future. Known for his knack for recruiting top talent, head coach Mack Brown has been making waves on the recruiting trail for the Class of 2025, securing commitments from 10 prospects, including highly touted names like Travis Shaw, Desmond Evans, and the notable flip from Alabama, Drake Maye.

Mack Brown’s recruiting prowess extends beyond the current class, with the Tar Heels also vying for Class of 2026 cornerback Camden Portis. Recently, an offer was extended to Portis, the son of college and NFL star Clinton Portis, on Thursday.

Camdin Portis, who previously played for Indian Land High School in Fort Mill, SC, will be joining North Carolina’s Myers Park Mustangs for his junior season. Myers Park, based in Charlotte, NC, had a successful season last year, winning their conference title but exiting early in the NCHSAA 4A State Playoffs.

Clinton Portis, the elder Portis, achieved great success in his football career, winning the 2001 BCS title with the Miami Hurricanes and enjoying a nine-year NFL stint with the Denver Broncos and Washington Redskins (now Washington Football Team), amassing nearly 10,000 rushing yards and earning two Pro Bowl nods.

With the Tar Heels eyeing Camden Portis as a potential defensive standout for their team in the future, could North Carolina secure his commitment and make him a cornerstone of their defense in the coming years?
