One of Texas A&M’s rivals in the SEC has supposedly halted its efforts to recruit Evan Stewart, the Aggies’ sophomore wide receiver, through the NCAA Transfer Portal.

According to Pete Nakos, a reporter covering college sports business and transfer portals for On3 Sports, sources indicate that the Tennessee Volunteers are no longer pursuing Evan Stewart.

Remaining as the highest-valued player in the portal concerning name, image, and likeness, valued at $1.4 million, Stewart is expected to command significant financial interest. He emphasized his prioritization of mental and physical well-being, as shared on Tuesday via X.

Encouraging news for Texas A&M’s supporters is that Stewart appears to be disinterested in other SEC rivals like Alabama or Texas as potential destinations. Instead, per the report, he’s eyeing universities such as Florida State, Ole Miss, and Oregon.

If Stewart were to opt for the Rebels’ program, he would mark the third Aggies prospect in the last month to switch from Bryan-College Station to Ole Miss, joining Anthony Maddox and Walter Nolen.
